Dear Friends of Lopez Island Pool:
Here is a quick update from yesterday's meeting and today:
Linda Koenig, 3173, has a FLIP table at Saturday market, 10-2pm, please call her if you can help her out. We talk about the pool, offer the articulated dolls for people to decorate for the silent auction, and have T-shirts available, it is low key and fun.
The question from everybody is: Where will it be????? We need to get this narrowed down to be credible. We need to write a business plan, and have specific goals & timelines for fundraising. Any help here is more than welcome!
Breaking news: We have a grantwriter on board!: Linda Bley of Portland/Lopez has a ton of experience with pools and grantwriting.
Lisa Vaughn did her senior presentation, clear, powerful and impressive, at school on our pool project. Lori Taylor, Linda Barton and Raiti proudly attended.
Donations are coming in to our P.O.Box 453, and deposited at Islander Bank.
1/28/08: FLIP registered with the state as a WA non profit
3/6/08: FLIP applied form 1023 to IRS for 501(c)3 status, now pending.
4th July Float: we might have more than one mermaid, so far three ladies are interested, and maybe some kids too. Gene Helfman offered his inflatable shark, and Lynn Hall might dress up as a giant octopus and pass out salt water taffy. The theme for the parade is stars and stripes. Call Linda Koenig for ideas and to help.
June 21st Splash party: we will have informational tables, so the various committees should get something ready for this show and tell. Bring a potluck and your own beverage; plates, etc. will be provided, picnic style.. Music to dance to and lots of fun decorations.
Linda Koenig has been working on getting the articulated wooden dolls decorated that are poised to swim, for the silent auction.
People at the meeting donated services and even a boat trip, and if any of you would like to donate something, please let Linda Barton, 4655, know. LindaB is also at the Saturday market, selling her children's book.
A community swimmingpool on Lopez is happening! Thanks to all of you!
