SWIM THE SALISH SEA!Club 468 - Open Water Swims in MacKaye Harbor! 2011 is our 2nd year! First swim: May 29thThe Friends of Lopez Island Pool or ‘FLIP’, is having its second year of fundraising with an activity called “SWIM the Salish Sea”. Every Sunday from May 29th until Labor Day, Sept 4th, a hearty group called “THE 468 CLUB", will swim at Makaye Harbor. The goal is to get Lopezians in the water and eventually build an aquatic center on the island. The public is welcome to join them to swim, sponsor, visit and see the fun. Check the FLIP website for times or contact Linda Barton at 468 4655. Salish Sea open water swims will be held every Sunday from the MacKaye Harbor Dock (boat ramp) between 2 to 5 PM through Labor Day. Those who wish to swim can call Robin Bergstrom for daily information, 468-2253. Swim times depend on the tides. All swims take place at the MacKaye Harbor Dock, also called the Boat Launch, located off MacKaye Harbor Road on the right just after turning from Mud Bay Road, beyond the fire station.
